1875
DeWitt was founded as the county seat of the southern district of Arkansas County, marking the beginning of its development as a town.
1880s-1890s
The town's economy began to diversify with the establishment of businesses, schools, and churches, supporting the growing community.
1906
The Bank of DeWitt was established, indicating economic growth and the need for financial services in the area.
1910s-1920s
Agriculture continued to be a significant part of the economy, with the introduction of rice farming in the region, which would eventually become a major industry in DeWitt.
1930s
The Great Depression affected the local economy, but DeWitt's agricultural base helped sustain the community.
1940s-1950s
